Compute / Service Description

Our Compute service allows (virtual) machines to be spun up on-demand.

Key Features

  • Various machines types and classes: CBWS offers machine types in different CPU tiers and with various combination of resources.
  • On-demand scaling: Via our CBWS SDK machines can be spun up on-demand.

IAM/Permissions

The Compute service integrates with our Identity and Access Management service, any principal with the roles/owner role can manage machines.

Machine type classes

These tier types are the first letter within the machine type class. These define the ratio of resources each machine type will have.

  • g - General purpose
    • 1 core - 2 GB memory - 20GB storage - 500 Mbit bandwidth.
    • 1:2:20:500 core/memory/storage/bandwidth ratio.
  • c - Compute
    • 1 high clockspeed core - 2 GB memory - 20GB storage - 500 Mbit bandwidth.
    • 1:2:20:500 core/memory/storage/bandwidth ratio.

Machine types

The machine types are the actual selectable types to deploy machines with.

  • g1
    • g1.1 - 1 vCPU - 2 GB RAM - 500 Mbit bandwidth
    • g1.2 - 2 vCPU - 4 GB RAM - 1 Gbit bandwidth
    • g1.4 - 4 vCPU - 8 GB RAM - 2 Gbit bandwidth
    • g1.8 - 8 vCPU - 16 GB RAM - 4 Gbit bandwidth
  • g2
    • g2.1 - 1 vCPU - 2 GB RAM - 500 Mbit bandwidth
    • g2.2 - 2 vCPU - 4 GB RAM - 1 Gbit bandwidth
